What is the best RAM for a trading PC?
In general, we recommend that traders start with at least 8GB of system memory. This will allow you to run most trading platforms and software without any issues. If you are planning on running multiple programs or back-testing, we recommend 16GB of memory for your trading computer.
RAM is measured in gigabytes, or GB. It is recommended that you have at least 8 GB of RAM for your day trading computer, though 16 GB of RAM is ideal. A processor is a very important part of the computer unit.
RAM – You can't have too much RAM. Its affordable and essential. Not enough RAM can cripple your whole system. For traders, 8GB – 16GB is ideal.
- RAM – You need a minimum of 8 GB of RAM, but 16GB is better.
- Processor – You need a processor with at least 4-6 cores (i5), but more is better (i7, i9, or M1)
- Hard Drive – Use an SSD with at least 250 GB storage.
- Displays – Again, more is better.
It is recommended these days that a laptop have at least 8GB of RAM. The more RAM your computer has, the faster it will open and run the trading programme. You'll also need a laptop with enough of RAM for stock trading. The suggested quantity is 8GB, however if you want you can upgrade it to 16GB.
Look for a processor with a speed of at least 2.5GHz for smooth and fast processing of trading software and real-time data. Core count: The number of cores in a processor can affect its ability to handle multiple tasks at once. A laptop with at least a quad-core processor is recommended for stock trading.
For basic web browsing and document creation, 4GB or 8GB is usually sufficient. For tasks such as photo editing and streaming media, however, 16GB of RAM may be necessary. For gaming or video editing applications, even higher amounts of RAM (e.g., 32GB) may be needed to ensure optimal performance.
While it's theoretically possible to earn $1,000 daily through day trading or stock market investments, it's important to note that such earnings are not guaranteed, and they come with significant risks. Day trading and stock market investments can be highly volatile, and there are no guarantees of profits.
You won't be storing a lot of data on the hard drive if used solely for day trading so an SSD 250 GB or higher will typically suffice. RAM: This is key to performance when utilizing lots of charts and indicators. The higher your RAM, the more charts and quotes you can watch.
Stocks or Forex
Beginning traders often ask, “Can I day trade for a living starting with just $1,000?” Well, $1,000 is not enough buying power to day trade in stocks, but in forex it's enough to start because many forex brokers have a minimum opening balance requirement of only $100.
How much RAM is enough for trading?
In general, we recommend that traders start with at least 8GB of system memory. This will allow you to run most trading platforms and software without any issues. If you are planning on running multiple programs or back-testing, we recommend 16GB of memory for your trading computer.
If you primarily use your machine for trading software, then we recommend Nvidia Quadro cards. If you would like to use your trading computer for gaming as well as trading, we have options for that as well. Please contact our sales team, and they can get your Trading Computer customized to fit your needs perfectly.
- Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070.
- Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080.
- Nvidia Titan RTX.
- AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT.
- AMD Radeon Pro W5700.
Thus, a graphics card is optional but recommended for dual-screen trading desks. When it comes to using 3 monitors simultaneously, a GPU will be required. An Nvidia 1650 will be more than enough for these cases.
A trading laptop requires a minimum of 256 GB SSD storage, but if you use multiple apps and software, you can use 512 GB SSD storage. Consider investing in a laptop with a combination of SSD for shorter boot times and application loading and a larger HDD for storing extensive market data.
Typically, we find that most traders need at least a 20Mbps connection for trading. When determining the best Internet, Service Provider (ISP) you will need to look at what technology they employ to get the internet to your door.
For day trading you want to go for a quad-core setup, with at least 2.8 GHz, though 3.3 GHz or more is recommended. This is one of our favorite Intel Processor for day trading but there are also more expensive options that may be better as well.
32GB of RAM is considered high and is generally overkill for most users. For most everyday use and basic tasks such as web browsing, email, and basic office work, 8GB of RAM is more than enough. Even for gaming or video editing, 16GB is typically sufficient.
Can too much RAM be bad? Having too much RAM won't necessarily hurt your computer. But it is generally considered to be a bad purchasing decision, because having much more RAM than you actually use won't speed up your computer. Having too much RAM is more of a waste of money, because the excess RAM isn't being used.
With more RAM, more of the program instructions can be loaded and there is less need to keep swapping data in and out to the swap file on the hard disk drive. The constant swapping of data slows down the speed at which applications can run, so increasing RAM will increase the speed of operation of the computer.
Can you make $200 a day day trading?
A common approach for new day traders is to start with a goal of $200 per day and work up to $800-$1000 over time. Small winners are better than home runs because it forces you to stay on your plan and use discipline. Sure, you'll hit a big winner every now and then, but consistency is the real key to day trading.
Many people have made millions just by day trading. Some examples are Ross Cameron, Brett N. Steenbarger, etc. But the important thing about day trading is that only a few can make money out of day trading and the rest end up losing their entire capital in day trading.
You're really probably going to need closer to 4,000 or $5,000 in order to make that $100 a day consistently. And ultimately it's going to be a couple of trades a week where you total $500 a week, so it's going to take a little bit more work.

Myth #2: Gaming Computers are Perfect Trading Computers
MYTH: Traders need a souped-up, high-end gaming computer to trade on. FACT: Gaming computers usually cost more than traders really need to spend. Traders don't need a graphics card that does fancy 3D acceleration better than any other card on the market.
