How do I connect my Joey to my TV wirelessly?
Connect one end of either the HDMI cable or the RCA cables that came with the Wireless Joey to the corresponding port(s) on the receiver. Then, connect the other end of your chosen cable(s) to the corresponding port on your television.
Joey, 4K Joey, or Super Joey
Connect an Ethernet cable* from the Ethernet port on your wall or router to the matching port on the back of your Joey receiver. Connect the other required cables to your Joey: Coaxial cable from wall port. HDMI cable from TV.

The access point connects to AC power and to one of the ethernet ports on the back of the Hopper. Each Wireless Joey client connects to the TV using an HDMI cable, and it will automatically connect to the Hopper as soon as the Wireless Joey is plugged into an AC outlet.

Restart your smart TV and Wi-Fi router
A restart will refresh the settings on your smart TV without erasing any of your data. Just unplug your smart TV, wait 30 seconds, then plug it back in. To restart your Wi-Fi router, unplug it, wait 30 seconds, then plug it back in too.
To check if your TV is a smart TV, use your TV remote to go to the Settings menu and look for Network Settings. If you have that option, you can scan for, and connect to, your wireless network. Alternatively, you can look for the Wi-Fi symbol or Wi-Fi Alliance logo (both pictured below) on your TV.

The only difference between this and a wired Joey, is the speed the Guide works. On the Hopper 3 and other wired Joey, the Guide will page the stations as fast as I scroll. On the Wireless, there is a slight delay, but it works. The picture is great, no wires (except for a power supply and the HDMI cable).
The WAP employs an auto channel jumping and selection process to avoid interference with other wireless networks that may be set up in the 5GHZ space. Figure 1 shows the traditional setup with Ethernet cable hardwired into the WAP from the Hopper, with a maximum distance of 328 feet.

The Wireless Joey does require a DISH Hopper Wireless Access Point. This is essentially a wireless router configured to exclusively connect with up to three Wireless Joeys. It creates a secure, private network for the (up to) 3 Wireless Joeys to connect to using the 802.11ac protocol.
No, you can't use a Joey without the hopper. The Hopper is the main tuner and the Joey is just a remote receiver. If you have a triple LNB antenna, you can record one channel and watch another with a Wally and hard drive or record two channels at a time.
If your Joey is not connected to the Internet, call 1-800-333-DISH (3474) to activate it with a DISH agent. You will need the Receiver ID and Smart Card ID located on the Activation screen. Review the Summary screen. Any fields with green checkmarks are complete, and yellow fields are steps that need your attention.
Why is my wireless not connecting?
Check to see if moving your device closer to your router helps you connect. If you normally have a strong signal in rooms far away from your router but suddenly can't connect, take your device closer to your router. If it can pick up a signal in a closer room, you may need a Wi-Fi extender.
Restarting your modem and router should be the first thing you do when encountering an internet signal issue. Don't skip this step! This is almost always what tech support will ask you to try first, as it often solves the problem. To restart your equipment, unplug the power cable for 60 seconds and plug it back in.
